GRANITE REFINISHING 

Using standard metal bonds and resin pads.

CONDITION: Existing Granite floor showing wear in the form of dull areas, scratches, scuff marks etc.

GOAL: Remove old sealer and grind/hone/polish out any damage to the surface then reseal and burnish.

Step 1– Lippage Removal- For rapid lippage removal load your Rhino grinding machine with 30 grit soft bond metal button diamonds. Start at the lowest speed and increase, if necessary, until optimal cutting action is achieved. (For minor lippage removal, start with 60 grit soft bond metal button diamonds)

Step 2– Install 60 grit soft bond metal button diamonds. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 3– Install 100 grit premium resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 4– Install 200 grit resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 5– Apply a thin even coat of HyperGloss Denseal and allow 2 hours to dry.

Step 6– Install 400 grit resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 7– Install 800 grit resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 8– Install 1500 grit resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 9– Install 3000 grit resins. Process floor to remove all tool marks from previous step. Clean floor thoroughly.

Step 10– Clean and finish using 3000 grit diamond impregnated pad

Finish– Apply a penetrating sealer, and enhancing sealer or, for high traffic areas in a commercial application, a thin coat of Hypergloss Top Coat can be used to protect the polished surface from wear.

MARBLE, TRAVERTINE & LIMESTONE REFINISHING 

Using standard metal bonds and resin pads.

CONDITION: Existing Marble/Travertine/Limestone floor showing wear in the form of dull areas, scratches, scuff marks etc.

GOAL: Remove old sealer and grind/hone/polish out any damage to the surface then reseal and burnish.

Step 1– For lippage removal and deep scratches, install 30 grit vacuum brazed diamonds (for severe lippage, start with 16 grit vacuum brazed diamonds and then proceed to 30 grit) Run Rhino machine at low rpm and cross hatch floor to remove lippage and flatten floor. This step may be run wet or dry.

Step 2– Install 60 grit vacuum brazed diamonds and cross hatch to remove tooling marks from first step. This may be run wet or dry.

Step 3– Install 100 grit premium resins, cross hatch remove all tooling marks from previous step. This may be run wet or dry (for most travertine’s, apply filler at this step and allow to cure)

Step 4– Install 200 grit premium resins, cross hatch to remove all tooling marks from previous step. This step may be run wet or dry.

Step 5– Clean floor thoroughly by vacuuming, damp mopping, or auto-scrubbing.  Apply Hypergloss Denseal and allow minimum 1-2 hours to dry.

Step 6– Install 400 grit premium resins and cross hatch to remove excess hardener and remove tooling marks from step 4.

Step 7– Install 800 grit premium resins and cross hatch to remove tooling marks from previous step.

Step 8– Install 800 grit premium resins and cross hatch to remove tooling marks from previous step.

Step 9– Install 3000 grit premium resins and cross hatch to remove tooling marks from previous step.
